Lovejoy ISD Back to School: Investing in the People Who Invest in Our Community

Before students walk through the doors, hundreds of teachers, administrators, support staff, and other professionals across Lovejoy ISD are already preparing for another year of learning, growth, and opportunity.

That's why Getting Neighborly was excited to participate in this year's Lovejoy ISD Convocation and help welcome district employees back for a new school year.

For us, this wasn't simply another community event.

We're part of the Lovejoy ISD community, and we see firsthand the impact these educators have on our students, families, businesses, and the future of North Texas.

Our Educators Are Helping Build the Future Workforce

When we talk about workforce development, the conversation usually starts with employers, jobs, skills, and economic growth.

But tomorrow's workforce is sitting in classrooms today.

The students walking into Lovejoy ISD schools will eventually become engineers, entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, educators, technicians, executives, tradespeople, small business owners, and community leaders.

And the preparation for those careers has already begun.

Every day, educators help students learn to solve problems, communicate ideas, work with others, meet expectations, overcome challenges, and lead.

Those abilities will follow students long after graduation.

That makes our schools an important part of our community's economic future, and it makes the people working inside those schools worth celebrating.

Celebrating Lovejoy ISD Convocation

Convocation is a great reminder of just how many people it takes to make a school district successful.

Teachers may be the people students interact with most frequently, but behind them are administrators, counselors, coaches, technology professionals, transportation teams, maintenance crews, food service employees, support staff, and many others working toward the same goal.

Lovejoy ISD brought those people together to celebrate the start of another school year, and the energy in the room was contagious.

Turning "Thank You" Into Support for Local Businesses

We wanted our participation in Convocation to go beyond simply wishing everyone a great school year.

So every Lovejoy ISD employee received an OpenRewards voucher.

Why OpenRewards?

Because it creates a pretty great circle.

Our educators invest in our students.

We invest in our educators.

And when those educators use their OpenRewards vouchers with participating local businesses, that investment flows into the businesses serving our community.

Restaurants. Retailers. Service businesses. Entrepreneurs. Family-owned companies.

Many of those businesses employ our neighbors, support school activities, sponsor local organizations, contribute to fundraisers, and give back to the same community that supports them.

Educators supporting local businesses. Local businesses supporting the community. And the community supporting its schools.

That's Getting Neighborly.

What Does It Mean to Get Neighborly?

The Getting Neighborly Podcast started with a simple idea: communities become stronger when we know the people around us.

That's why we sit down with business owners, community leaders, entrepreneurs, organizations, and other interesting neighbors to hear their stories.

But Getting Neighborly shouldn't happen only behind a microphone.

Sometimes it means showing up.

Sometimes it means introducing people who should know one another.

Sometimes it means discovering a local business you didn't know existed.

And sometimes it means finding a way to say thank you to hundreds of people who are about to spend another year investing in our kids.

Lovejoy ISD Convocation allowed us to do exactly that.

Schools, Businesses and Community Are Connected

It's easy to think about schools and businesses as two separate parts of a community.

They're not.

Great schools help develop talented people. Great businesses create opportunities for those people. Strong communities give both a place to thrive.

Each one strengthens the others.

That's one reason we're excited about what happens when programs like OpenRewards connect the people working in our schools directly with businesses operating in our community.

A voucher may seem like a small gesture.

Multiply it across every Lovejoy ISD employee, however, and it becomes something more meaningful: a community choosing to invest in itself.

Here's to a Great School Year, Lovejoy ISD

To the teachers, administrators, counselors, coaches, support teams, and everyone else who makes Lovejoy ISD work: thank you.

The work you're doing this school year won't end when the final bell rings.

You're helping prepare young people who will eventually build companies, join organizations, raise families, solve problems, lead teams, create jobs, and find their own ways to contribute to the communities around them.

We're proud to be part of the Lovejoy ISD community, proud to have participated in Convocation, and especially proud that we could turn our appreciation for educators into additional support for local businesses.

Our educators invest in our students. We invest in our educators. Together, we invest in our community.
